Christian professors worldwide must be equipped to have redemptive influence among their students, colleagues, universities and disciplines!
Students Form Their Guiding Beliefs And Values During Their University Years
During the university years students ask many questions and often reject their family’s beliefs and values. These are years of maturing, defining their own identity and forming the core beliefs and values that will undergird them the rest of their lives. Therefore biblical truth must be available to university students worldwide during this pivotal point in their lives.
Students are Transformed By Those They Respect Most—Their Professors
The world over students have great respect for their professors. Unfortunately, many of the 131 million university students worldwide have little or no opportunity to hear the gospel and biblical truth from a professor. This is especially true for students outside North America. As a result, many will be shaped by non-Christian and even anti-Christian beliefs and values.
Students Become Leaders and Influence Countless Others
Today over 90% of all world leaders are university-educated. The Moscow High Party School in the former USSR produced Saddam Hussein, Muammar Qaddafi, Fidel Castro and Idi Amin. Students from Peking University played a central role in the Communist revolution in China. What university students believe today will shape their nations tomorrow. In our interconnected world this affects us all!
“But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it?” Romans 10:14-15
“The university is a clear-cut fulcrum with which to move the world….Change the university and you will change the world.”
– Dr. Charles Malik, former President of the United Nations
